Team Building

Builds strong, motivated teams; values others’ strengths.

Team building is about more than dividing tasks—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels valued, heard, and motivated to contribute. It takes awareness, empathy, and a willingness to adapt so that the group functions better as a whole.

In our class, this might look like mediating group conflict or helping redistribute tasks. In the podcast, it might mean making sure each team member has a clear role. In the business competition, it could be keeping morale high during late-stage prep.

Strong teams don’t just happen—they’re built.

Design Your Practice Plan

Prompt:

This semester, I want to practice team building by [specific behavior you will try] during [case study / podcast / business competition]. To do this well, I’ll prepare by [how you’ll get ready], and I’ll reflect on how it went by [how you’ll track your growth or seek feedback].

Examples:

  • I want to practice team building by helping reassign tasks in our case group when someone is overwhelmed. I’ll prepare by checking in with team members weekly. I’ll reflect by noting how the group dynamic changed.

  • I want to practice team building by coordinating podcast roles to match each person’s strengths. I’ll prepare by asking teammates what they enjoy most. I’ll reflect by reviewing how smooth the process felt and whether everyone stayed engaged.

  • I want to practice team building by keeping our pitch team motivated. I’ll prepare by setting short-term goals and celebrating wins. I’ll reflect by noticing how team morale evolved over time.

After trying your plan, return to your E-IDP and reflect: What worked? What felt uncomfortable? What would you try next time?
